The new Green and Happy warehouse at Pune offers many firsts, like solar power energy, environmentally friendly last mile delivery, unique facilities for employees, safety measures and smart material handling.

Pune / New Delhi: Chetak group, a pioneer in logistics and supply chain solutions in automobile transportation in India, has further expanded its national network with the inauguration of the First Green Warehouse in Pune. The warehouse which adds to the 2 million plus warehousing capacity of Chetak Group was inaugurated by Chetak Group’s Directors Mukesh and Rajesh Haritash, in the presence of guests from Tata Motors and other prominent clients. The warehouse will serve all vendors of Tata Motors.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Mukesh Haritash, Director Chetak Logistics said, “We are happy to inaugurate perhaps India’s first Green and Happy Warehouse in Pune. This is a result of the inspiration we derive from our father, the late Shri Jai Karan Sharma, Founder – Chetak Group. We dedicate this warehouse to him and pledge to take forward his vision of serving the customers with the best quality of product offerings and service. The one lakh sq. feet warehouse adds to over 2 million sq. feet warehousing space offered by the Chetak Group, across India.”

The new Green and Happy warehouse at Pune offers many firsts, like solar power energy, environmentally friendly last mile delivery, unique facilities for employees, safety measures and smart material handling. Some of the facilities are given below.

Green Warehouse – this warehouse is completely green with solar-powered energy and electric material handling equipment.

Green Deliveries by Chetak – all last mile delivery vehicles will run on CNG to provide pollution less deliveries.

Happy Warehouse – we have provided a home-like facility for our staff as they spend substantial time in the warehouse. We have provided them with outdoor and indoor sports activities to motivate them. This keeps our staff always happy. The walls of the warehouse will be painted by local artists to create a lively and refreshing look & feel. This will also encourage local artisans and help strengthen community relations, the company said.

PU Flooring – For the first time in India, PU flooring is being used in a warehouse to handle materials with the utmost care.

Surveillance System – 50 CCTV cameras have been installed to monitor each and every activity within and outside a warehouse for greater safety of goods.

Smart movement – The rack layout has been specially designed to minimise the 3M movement – Manpower, Material and Machine , resulting in greater safety and better efficiency.

Space – Spread over 1 Lakh square feet, the warehouse further adds to Chetak Group’s over 2 million square feet of modern, developed warehousing space, spread across all industrial hubs in India.

Scope – The warehouse will serve all vendors of Tata Motors.

The inauguration was accompanied by tree plantation drive by Chetak Foundation the CSR arm of Chetak Logistics, set up as a tribute to Shri Jai Karan Sharma, Founder of Chetak Group. Directors Chetak Logistics and senior functionaries from Tata and other companies under Oxygen Plus initiative, planted saplings which were covered by tree guards for improving survival rate of the saplings. The Chetak Foundation also installed a water cooler, just outside the premises to provide hygienic water to underprivileged truck drivers, labour and passersby.
